We all have a responsibility
… to make ITU a sexism-free zone. If you experience sexual harassment or sexism, it is important that you know how you can act upon it. University staff are available to guide you if you are unsure what to do in a specific situation and can also help you make a complaint if you wish to do so. New MSc in Data Science in 2021
The Board of Directors has decided to open the new MSc Programme in Data Science with its first student intake next summer, 2021.

This means The IT University will have a full five-year programme in Data Science.

Fire Drill at Rued Langgaards Vej 
The fire drill will take place October 29. Please read the following instructions:

- Before the exercise, identify the escape route you are going to use if your zone is evacuated.

- Follow the green Exit signs indicating the evacuation stairs.

- You only have to leave the building if the fire alarm sounds loud and clear in your section.

We hope that you will all contribute to a successful exercise.

PhD Student Tiemo Thiess is defending his PhD thesis "Designing Artificial Intelligence Systems for B2B Aftersales Decision Support".

When and Where: October 26, 2020 at 13:00 online via Zoom.

Pre-registration is required for participation. Deadline is October 22, at 15:00.
 
Join the Hack for Humanity Hackathon on October 16
Get hands-on with impact assessment, climate tools and data to drive impactful climate decisions.

Gain insight into the current practices of Denmark's largest international NGO, Danish Refugee Council, in their pioneering work within climate adaptation during this 12 hours hackathon.

It  will take place physically at DTU Skylab, Kgs Lyngby.

New Appointments at the Department of Computer Science
On October 1, Associate Professor at Computer Science Søren Debois stepped down as both Deputy Head of Department and Head of the MSc Software Development Program. We thank Søren for his great effort and contribution to both the department and the MSc Software Development Program.
 
Björn Þór Jónsson will take over his position as Deputy Head of Department. He is an Associate Professor in Computer Science and has been with ITU since 2017. Before that he served for a period as department head at Reykjavik University, Iceland.
 
Patrick Bahr will take over as Head of the MSc Software Development Program. He is an Associate Professor in computer science and joined the ITU in 2015. He works in the area of programming language theory and has a soft spot for teaching discrete mathematics and functional programming.
