What's on in Kalundborg

the international newsletter
May 2020
Spring is here (at least most of the time now), and that usually means penty of social activities and oudoor fun. But we are all affected by Covid-19 and the fact that all our leisure activities have been cancelled or postponed.

Therefore we have very few events in this month's newsletter. Instead we have some things for you to do in nature, with your family, colleagues, or whomever you may have in your nearest circle in this pandemic time.

Hopefully, you will enjoy this edition of 'What's on in Kalundborg' as well :)

THE CALENDAR

Spend time in nature
When everything else is closed, nature is the place to be!
Take a mindful walk in the forrest, a trip to the beach, or a hike in the icelandi landscape of Røsnæs. Fortunately we are lucky to have some really amazing locations in the municipality.
And even if it is still a bit cold for you to go swimming, the beaches are a great place to go to clear your head, take a hike, or go play with rocks with the kids.

Beautiful beaches
Some of the most popular beaches are Vesterlyng, near Havnsø, and Gisseløre in Kalundborg. Vesterlyng is Zealands largest heathland, and you will find child-firendly, sandy beaches for miles. Gisseløre is more 'rocky' but close to the city centre and with a nice wildlife sanctuary, restrooms and an a'la carte restaurant.

Wild nature
If you go to Asnæs, Røsnæs, Saltbæk, or Uggerløse you will find both beaches, wild nature, and at Asnæs also a large forrest. Bring food, snacks or coffee, enjoy the silence, or go exporing :)

Loch Ness

About 4 km from Kalundborg City, you find the small oasis of Loch Ness. Here you can enjoy the beautiful nature, wooden playgrounds and colourful birds. You can bring food to eat at the tables, have a barbecue by the fireplaces, and buy bread to feed the many different birds.

This is the perfect spot for a day in the sun with friends, kids, and family. And maybe you will find the real Loch Ness monster located in the lake.

Go High, Go Bounce, or Go Play
At Kragerup Estate you will find that all the outdoor activities have opened up, with police-approved covid-19 rules, and extra focus on hygiene.

Try the 6 km tree-top fun, with challenging clims, and obstacles high in the trees. Or go to the new trampoline park in the trees, where kids from the age of 4 can yoin you, jumping around up to 8 meters over the ground.

You can also play football golf, try archery, ride mountainbike or just go for a lovely hike in the area. Read more on the website.

Outdoor coffee at the Harbor Park
The Harbor Park in Kalundborg is a nice place to go and enjoy your packed lunch, or have an outdoor and corona-friendly meet-up with a friend. The public playground is still available, as long as it is not too crowded, and there are plenty of benches and room on the wooden terrace by the water.

This setting is perfect for meeting up with e.g. other internationals from the Facebook group

Costa Kalundborg has re-opnene in the weekend, so now you can also enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a slice of cake to-go.
